In order to substantiate anything, we must use the proper organ. For example, to realise colour we must use our eyes, and to receive knowledge we must use our mind. What organ would you use to receive God?

When God created man, He formed a spirit within him (Zechariah 12:1). It is with man’s spirit that man can contact and receive God. Due to the fall of man, man’s spirit became deadened because of sin, thereby losing its function to contact and receive God (Ephesians 2:1). However, God did not abandon man; instead, He became a man called Jesus Christ (John 1:1, 14), lived a perfect human life on earth, and died to take away our sins, thus removing every barrier between us and God. He was buried and rose on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4), and in resurrection He became a life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45). As the Spirit He is able to enter into and enliven man’s spirit. Now man can use his human spirit to contact and receive God by repenting to God and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21).

To contact and receive God simply come to Him with an open heart and say:

Lord Jesus, I open my heart to You. Thank You for dying for my sins. Lord Jesus, come into me. I receive You right now as my Saviour and life.

To continue to enjoy this life you just received, it is necessary to use your spirit to contact the Lord Jesus in prayer, in His Word and in fellowship with other believers.
